Brock Lesnar And Royal Rumble Fall Out

Pro wrestling is fun. The backstage nonsense that surrounds professional wrestling is often even more entertaining. That is the case – again – as we move on from the Royal Rumble and slide straight into Elimination Chamber season.

No one really knows if Brock Lesnar will be at the Elimination Chamber event at Centre Bell in Montreal, QC, on Saturday, February 18. He certainly could be, with Brock needing to set up a WrestleMania match – likely against Bobby Lashley – at some point before the April event.

However, if reports are to be believed, there is a little bit of heat on Lesnar after his Royal Rumble shenanigans.

Brock Lesnar Heat?

The first thing to consider here is that “heat” on Lesnar is very different from heat on many other WWE wrestlers. To say that Brock has a longer leash than most likely doesn’t cover everything that ‘The Beast Incarnate’ could actually get away with. He isn’t completely Teflon, but his ability to draw – and the legitimacy he brings to the company – takes him to the next level in the eyes of both the company and the fans.

Lesnar has a unique aura. This comes partly from his legit MMA work and how well they book him as a monster. This happened again at the Rumble, with Lesnar’s pop exploding the roof off of the Alamodome as he made his way to the ring.

The way he faced off against Seamus and Drew McIntyre was fun, his elimination of Santos Escobar was epically violet, and his staredown with Gunther – the star of the match – preludes a match we surely must see at some point in the future. It was after his elimination by Lashley, though, when things got wild.

Brock was apparently told that his spot was to “freak out.” Throwing the stairs on the announce desk was known to some – though not all – but his launching of part of that same table into the ring like a missile was Brock’s own work. This was also true of his attack on referee Eddie Orengo, with Orengo then having to depart to sell the beating.

Usually, this would be no issue. Unfortunately – and likely not known to Brock – Orengo was supposed to be out there near the end of the match for a planned spot. Missing it was unfortunate, but given how well the Brock freakout went down, it is hard to see anyone getting too mad at Lesnar for his actions.

Even if they were, who is going to tell him…

Always remember folks. Pro Wrestling is Real.
