WrestleMania 39 Tickets: Edge VS Balor

We are just over two weeks away from WrestleMania 39, and the hype surrounding the show is going into overdrive. The show announces more matches each week, with one of the latest being the clash that will see Edge and Finn Balor (presumably) end their feud inside Hell in a Cell.

WrestleMania 39 is set to be a great event, with shows on Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2, from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Califonia. This two-day ‘Mania is something that WWE found forced upon them in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it is a format they seem to have really found success with as shorter shows each day lead to more fan engagement than one six-hour event.

Edge vs. Balor

This is a match fit for WrestleMania. I love that they have chosen to do this inside Hell in a Cell, the place where all good blood feuds should end. WWE has criminally overexposed the whole concept of the cell since giving it its own Pay Per View in 2009, replacing No Mercy with a gimmick-heavy show.

This meant that matches with no business being inside a cell had the stipulation tacked on just to fit the criteria. The cell had always been built as the very last place a feud could go, with two (or more) wrestlers locked inside the structure until only one survived. There would be blood and pain, and whoever won the match would come out with the final victory in the rivalry before the wrestlers went in separate directions.

Hell in a Cell as a PPV killed all that, but Hell in a Cell at ‘Mania still has meaning. This will be the first time in seven years there has been a cell match at ‘The Granddaddy of Them All.; The last was ‘Taker vs. Shane at ‘Mania 32, and this one should blow that out of the water.

Edge is a Hell in a Cell veteran who always produces in these matches. His match against the aforementioned Dead Man at Summer Slam 2008 was an all-time classic in this – or any – match type. He has the ability to give over to a side of his persona that is devious and evil, and somehow it works whether he is a face or a heel.

Balor – of course – is no mug in the ring either. He has shown in his role as the leader of Judgement Day that he didn’t leave his stable leadership qualities back in New Japan. Sure, the gothic nature of the group is very different from Bullet Club, but it fits the darkness of his WWE character better.

I don’t think we will see The Demon here. It feels like too much of a face move. We will see two wrestlers firing off at each other with everything they have. This is personal, and this is intense. This is the culmination of over a year of storytelling.

I am ready for it, and the right move will be to put Balor over.

Always remember folks. Pro Wrestling is Real
