Elimination Chamber 2023 Thoughts

WWE Elimination Chamber is just around the corner, with the event this year coming from the Centre Bell in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on Saturday, February 18. The card is still being finalized, but this stop on the road to WrestleMania on the first weekend in April from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Here are a few random thoughts on the card to date.

Lita is Back. Is Trish Next?

Hall of Famer returns are always fun, and the return of Lita on Monday Night Raw this week had the bonus of being largely unexpected. The rumor is that she will team with a returning Trish Stratus (perhaps coming back next week on Raw) and Becky Lynch to take on the Damage CTRL trio of Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Bayley. It was weird that Trish and Lita would be back here after not being in the Royal Rumble, but both are still in excellent shape and are the type of legends that add to the product any time they appear.

US Title Chamber Will Be Fun

Austin Theory has had a weird year, but he should be proud of carrying the US Title into the Elimination Chamber. Whether or not he will make it out of the Chamber with the strap is anyone’s guess. Here is who he faces.

  • Seth Rollins – Might get it, but he should be in the Main Event scene
  • Damian Priest – Stong contender, as Judgement Day needs some gold before Rhea Ripley wins at ‘Mania.
  • Montez Ford – WWE brass love him. Still feels like the tag wrestler he is.
  • Bronson Reed – Crazy athlete. Could win it.
  • Johnny Gargano – The guy I want to win. Always made titles feel legit in NXT and would do the same here.

Options and potential storylines are coming out of this, no matter who wears gold. That is how it should be,

Sami Won’t Beat Roman

The way Sami has organically become the hottest thing in the company says everything about his talent (and that of Roman too). Sami is likable, and fans would blow the roof off the building if he were to win in Montreal. The problem is that this storyline has somehow taken the shine off Cody Rhodes and his date with destiny against Roman at WrestleMania. The company cannot go with Sami vs. Cody, so Reigns will have to win even though WWE has finally created the Main Event star in Zayn that they have been missing for years.

Always remember folks. Pro Wrestling is Real.
