Brock Lesnar VS Gunther Should Be A WrestleMania Match

WWE is leaving WrestleMania money on the table, which is bothering me. Elimination Chamber was WWE’s last Premium Live Event before Wrestlemania takes over SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA, on Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2. It should be an outstanding event – Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns only gets more interesting by the week – but the company is doing itself (and the fans) a disservice with how they treat their Intercontinental Champion.

GUNTHER Vs. Brock

This should be the ‘Mania match. GUNTHER is a monster, and his epic Royal Rumble performance in January was one of the best the event has ever seen. His combination of size, strength, and ability to work long, grueling matches at a high level is astonishing. They teased GUNTHER and Brock Lesnar at the Rumble, and the crowd went wild. This is the match fans want to see.

GUNTHER has also rolled through just about every viable babyface on the roster at this point. He doesn’t just win, he dominates. This means that finding a challenger that fans buy into will be tough. Lesnar would (obviously) be that guy. He is as legit as they come on the roster, and his current gimmick would work beautifully with the no-nonsense work of the German.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like this is the direction in which the company is going. Omos – of all people – challenged Lesnar to a match on Raw. Omos is objectively terrible at wrestling. He is too big and stiff, and everything he does is in slow motion. Brock probably wants the match – he gets a sweet payday for throwing a giant around for two minutes and a pin – but fans absolutely do not.

Lesnar matches have become all about power moves. He is the only wrestler in the company that works the style where matches are power spot-heavy from the beginning, and it works for him. He could have that match against GUNTHER, but he could also work something that goes 10 to 15 minutes with a little more story than his matches usually provide. He used to work those matches, so we know he can do it, and GUNTHER is maybe the only bigger guy on the roster who could pull a retro match out of Lesnar and make it look good at this point.

Back off of the Omos/Lesnar feud and make this happen please WWE.

Always remember folks. Pro Wrestling is Real.
