We are barrelling ever closer toward WrestleMania 39, which will come at us over two days from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The Greatest Show on Earth will be broadcast on Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2, and will feature highly anticipated matches such as Roman Reigns defending the WWE Universal Title against Cody Rhodes and an intriguing clash that sees Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins battle ‘The Influencer’ Logan Paul.
Another match set to be on the card – and one that sees a career winding down against one just beginning – will see John Cena strap on the jorts to take on Austin Theory.

Theory VS Cena
This match is now official after John Cena got in the face of Austin Theory on WWE Raw this Monday. This did not come as a surprise, with most insiders having reported for months that the plan for Cena at WrestleMania 39 was to go one-on-one with the upstart Theory.
Theory is the US Title holder. Cena is essentially retired in 2023, showing up for the big shows, but – in fairness – doing so in a way that gives back to the business and elevates others. Theory could have been put in a program with any challenger here, but giving him the rub of taking on a legend like Cena automatically makes Theory seem like a bigger deal.
That is why Theory should win this match clean.
There are a lot of ways the company could go with this match. Many expect it to be a non-title affair that Cena can win with the AA. They could also make for the strap and have Cena win by Theory getting himself DQed. To me, however, the result that makes the most sense is putting Theory over clean, helping him build his star even further by taking down the guy who was the WWEs main guy for over a decade.
Theory was Vince McMahon’s newest chosen one at one point. That doesn’t;t always work – hey there, Drew McIntyre – but Theory has worked hard to elevate himself back up the card after a dip in fortune over the last couple of years. The backstory of the US Title is a fun one. The best run of Cena’s career – critically, at least – was when he was tearing it up week after week with his US Title Open Challenge gimmick. It allowed people to see a different side of Cena, one where he was worker first and hype man second, and it really turned some of the marks back on his side.
Cena will be going back to Hollywood after this. Do the right thing and have Theory go over here as a guy moving toward the top of the card.
Always remember folks. Pro Wrestling is Real.
